I say interesting, because the first ingredient is emu oil. Yes the Australian bird that resembles a small ostrich. Now, I am aware that there are emu farms in the United States and Canada and the meat is eaten in fancy restaurants, and also used as a novel protein in hypoallergenic pet foods. That being said it may not be for everyone, especially if you’re a vegan. It also uses beeswax. It has worked almost overnight on my dry cracked heels. I imagine it would have other applications such as soothing burns. It is a bit on the oily side so you’ll want to use care if using under clothing. It has a very nice scent which I believe comes from the orange and lavender oil. While I would prefer a cruelty free product for my skin, I can appreciate that if an animal is to be used, use the entire animal and waste nothing. But I had to deduct a star for that. Otherwise this is a really nice healing ointment.

The area that she didn't apply it felt more rough.Overall, both my daugther and I like this product very much.

I don't really know what it is but it smells a little pungent like maybe lemon or lemongrass but with a medicinal or antiseptic side to it. Like maybe cleaning products or insect repellent. Full disclosure I am pretty sensitive to smell and react this way to a lot of "natural" products. Which maybe aren't even scented but for some reason carry a scent because of the natural oils used. Long story short I love all the emollients but because of the scent it's just not something I would seek out again. I'm going to try to keep it to use on my feet and legs because they are so dry and it feels great on, and maybe I can tolerate it more if it's not too close to my nose. I would adore it with a different smell or completely unscented but maybe you will like it, I am just super picky that way.

It melts easily on my fingers and spreads smoothly on my feet. It is, of course, an occlusive, that preserves moisture and prevents further drying. The ingredients also encourage healing. I use it on my feet, and elbows where the skin has a tendency to dry. It is already proving effective within a couple of days because my skin is already softer and does not look dry any more. This is a good cream but a bit expensive for what it does.

I am using it on my dry elbows, knees, and heels with any left over going on my legs and arms. I will say that less is more. The first time I used this, I thought I scooped out a small amount. Three hours later and the balm still had not absorbed. The next time I used half as much and now within about 30 minutes, it absorbs. My dry areas are starting to improve with twice a day use. It is helping my dry skin to heal.

My husband is going through some crusty skin issues around his nose which always happens when we are visiting family in an arid climate. I could definitely see how this would help repair chapped skin or replenishing the skin barrier's moisture. I plan on putting this on my daughter's skin since we just got back from the grand canyon & her skin is quite dry & flaky right now. Overall, I'm pleased with this and happy to keep it in my vanity. Would recommend for extremely dry skin, or for severely irritated skin, such as acne prone that is damaged by harsh chemicals.
